How can I know whether you are the right therapist for me? [ Top ]
Finding the right therapist is an important consideration. The relationship we develop together is a major factor in the healing and growth that takes place in therapy. To that end I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation before you set up your first appointment. That conversation allows you to determine if I can be of help to you. I can be reached at 951-275-5200 or Contact Me.

How can I contact you? [ Top ]
You can call me at 951-275-5200. Or you can click on Contact Me and send me an email with a question or with information about your preferences for appointment times.

Do you accept health insurance? [ Top ]
I accept most health insurance plans. You are welcome to call me or email me about whether I accept your health insurance. Or, you can check with your health insurance plan by calling Member Services.

If I am not a provider for your health insurance, you might be able to see me as an "out-of-network" provider if your plan includes that coverage. Or you can pay my usual and customary fee for therapy sessions.

What is your fee? What methods of payment do you accept? [ Top ]
My usual and customary fee is $100 for a 45-50 minute therapy session in my office. (The first session is $125.) The fee is the same no matter whether I see you alone or with a partner or other family member(s).

I charge an additional fee for travel time for home visits - $20 for up to ten miles round trip from my office and $40 for a distance of ten to twenty miles roundtrip from my office.

I accept personal checks or cash. Fees are payable at the time therapy services are rendered.

How often will we meet? [ Top ]
That can vary depending on the issues you are working on and is a decision that we make together. Usually therapy starts with weekly sessions and then may taper down to every other week when you see that you are making progress toward solving the issues that brought you into therapy.

How long will therapy take? [ Top ]
The length of therapy depends on many factors such as what issues you want to work on and whether you are able to practice in between sessions the ideas and skills we discuss in session. Some families and individuals find that just a few sessions are sufficient to solve or significantly reduce their problems. Others decide to work with me for many months or sometimes a year or more. My intent is for you to experience long-lasting change in the shortest time possible.

No matter how long you work with me, my goal is for you to walk away from every session with some emotional relief and a clearer perspective on your situation. I aim always for you to take away ideas about strategies to try or skills to practice in between sessions.

What is your cancellation policy? [ Top ]
Your appointment time is reserved solely for you. As is customary with most professionals, if you cancel your appointment, a 24-hour notice is required. When you do not show up for an appointment or cancel with less than a 24-hour notice, you will be expected to pay for the full session fee (not just the co-payment) at your next appointment. Please understand that health insurance does not pay for missed sessions.
